-
- »CL1:Not so long ago I received an email
- from Darkhawk, asking me if I would
- write some articles for what looks to
- be the last 680xx issue of the
- Eurochart. Of course, I want to
- contribute, if only to help out an old
- scene friend, so here I am staring at
- this incomplete paragraph with nothing
- in mind to write about, and no
- knowledge or interest in the current
- Amiga scene. Meanwhile, my university
- essays need writing and a pile of
- books need reading; I have new PC
- games I'm itching to play, overdue
- emails I need to reply to, and in a
- few hours I'm due to head into the
- city to meet a group of friends.
-
- »CL0:Unfortunately, this appears to be the
- attitude of most Amiga sceners today
- and the making of demos, gfx, music
- and articles are being pushed further
- down everybody's list of priorities.
- Although we often feel compelled to
- contribute to the scene once in a
- while, to show our loyalty to the
- scene or to friends, there are other
- ways we would prefer to spend our free
- time. Consequently, for many of us,
- scene activity has become a laborious
- chore that brings no enjoyment, that
- won't pay the bills or determine
- success, or even reap any recognition.
- »CL1:For those who still have a love for
- the scene and still retain their
- motivation for scene activity, it
- makes very little sense being part of
- the Amiga scene: a scene where we
- have to wait several months to watch a
- demo that took only a day to code, and
- up to a year to read a diskmagazine
- composed of uninspired fillers (like
- this one), nostalgia trips and feigned
- optimism.
-
- »CL0:I believe there comes a point for us
- all where we reach the end of the
- line, a point where our hopes and
- determination is taken from our hands
- and no further progression is
- possible. Then one day you find
- yourself sitting impatiently in front
- of the computer, hurrying to finish a
- half-hearted article you never had the
- motivation to write.
